Remodeling – Planning

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of planning the project before you begin. Good planning starts with a floor plan drawing of the space showing the existing plan and the changes. There should be separate plans showing the electrical, flooring and a furniture plan.

Then a series of spread sheets should be created, outlining all the items that need to be included. They can include, but not be limited to, stone and ceramic, millwork, plumbing fixtures, appliances, hardware, light fixtures and paint. If you want the remodel to move quickly then order all items prior to beginning.

A good general contractor is key to your peace of mind. Do your homework and check references prior to hiring. A referral is often the best way to find the right fit. I recommend interviewing three contractors. You really want to be comfortable with the choice.

Unique Chest of Drawers

Craftmanship is evident in this handsome chest of drawers. The interesting finish is what I especially love about this piece.

The quality of the finish along with craftmanship is the difference between average and extraordinary furniture. I equate it to having those stand out pieces in your wardrobe. You can build a look around them.

Kimball’s Mitos

To quote Kimball’s website…..Mitos refreshes your perspective, giving you a new point of view.

Do you love having options as much as I do? I find I am more creative when I am not sitting in the same position all the time. Not to mention it is in your body’s best interest to get up and stretch every hour or so throughout the work day. I would definately recommend Mitos for a home office as well as a commercial space.

Mitos allows you to change from sitting to standing to reclining. Great design! Very innovative. Kimball is obviously a forward thinking company.

Before and After Staging

This is the before and after picture of the kitchen in a Westlake Village, CA. townhome.

We painted the cabinets and walls, put in new flooring and counter, updated the lighting and installed new appliances. Then added the finishing touches! Now it is charming.
