TOI - Tapas Bar and Restaurant Design
The Thousand Oaks Inn’s new TOI Tapas Bar & Lounge replaced the former Du-Par’s Restaurant & Bakery; a favorite in the area for some 15 years. We worked in conjunction with Michael Blackman and Associates transforming the previous facility into a modern, comfortable, spacious restaurant, bar, and lounge that’s receiving rave reviews from patrons. We wanted the design to reflect the natural, local beauty of this area and create a setting wherein TOI could showcase its delicious, locally grown foods in a warm, inviting atmosphere.
We established an organic feel with materials such as cork and various metals. Additionally, we used different lighting elements to further enhance the dining and lounging experience.
In the bar, a large, u-shaped counter top was designed with the subtle look of tree roots, which compliments a stained concrete floor. In the restaurant portion of TOI, Venetian plaster and carpeting were used to give the area a softer, more upscale appeal.
